Disclaimer: I did this on natural, light blonde hair. My hair soaks up dye very well and usually holds fast, including colors like pink and teal. Bleaching my hair before dying it causes a lot of very awful staining that won’t come out at *all*. I opted to dye my hair without any bleach since I have around a dozen times before and had no problems.
Product: Special Effects Purple Smoke
Stars: 0/5 ★
What you liked about the product: It looks pretty in the bottle.
What you didn’t like about the product: It acted like a toner despite being called a dye - it stripped my hair of all of the yellow tones but didn’t actually leave *any* dye behind. It’s gray. Completely gray. It doesn’t even photograph gray, it looks like I didn’t do anything to my hair at all when I try to take a photo. It also photographs patchy and looks pretty awful. In real life though, it looks nice, but it doesn’t look anything like the purple I expected.
Would you recommend the product: No way. At least not unless you bleach and tone your hair to be paper white. Maybe not even then.
Where you purchased the product: Amazon from the Special Effects seller
How much you paid: $28.38 for two bottles
